Another beautiful Michigan State Park. It’s a pretty good size, but has a smaller feel because of its proximity to M-25. A few sites along that perimeter suffer from it, but all the rest are good. Many are outstanding along the lake. Site 70 is what we like to call “The Honeymoon Suite”. It’s a site all by itself because the dunes reclaimed all the adjacent sites. Very private, very spacious, overlooking Lake Huron. Camped here during the Harvest Festival (mid October). Lots of campers with Halloween theme decorations. All kinds of activities planned including trick or treating in the campground.
We were here in May. Despite the cooler weather we had a great time. There was plenty to do before tourists season began in town. We walked the trails. My kids (9 y.o & 4 y.o) were able to walk most of the shorter trail. The had a hard time at first because of the sand but after that it was smooth sailing. Both kids loved the play ground and riding bikes throughout the campground. The showers and bathrooms were pretty clean. The well water has a strong odor to it but that's expected since its well water. There are campsites along the beach where you can have your camper door facing the water, if your camper is short enough. We seen many campsites set up like this. We look forward to returning.
Affordable, quiet, well kept campground. They have some activities for guests, convenient water access and bathrooms. The beach directly in front of the campground is only a few feet wide, but if you walk down a little ways it opens up. Close to turnip rock. Will definitely come back!
Absolutely wonderful State Park! Very well maintained and the staff is fabulous. Great sunsets, peaceful relaxing atmosphere and the stargazing is awesome! Love to drift off to sleep to the sound of waves lapping at the shore.
My first state park in our new camper. We stayed in a spot on the water. The site was gorgeous. The facilities were clean. The place was packed, but it was also a holiday weekend. I'm new to camping in an RV, but this site won me over!
